Fish Pick & Cook - Tangier Fishing & Cooking Experience

A full sea-to-table day in Tangier: guests catch fresh fish along the coast in the morning, then head to Mnar Castle to harvest garden vegetables and herbs before cooking traditional Moroccan dishes with a local chef, using their own catch and harvest. The day ends with the meal itself, overlooking the Mediterranean, and a return transfer to Tangier.

About This Fish Pick & Cook

Most food experiences in Tangier are built around one activity a cooking class, a boat trip, a garden visit. This one is built around a sequence: catch it, pick it, cook it, eat it, in that order, across a full day rather than a compressed few hours. It’s the most complete version of Mnar Castle’s food experiences, and the only one where the ingredients aren’t sourced in advance  they’re determined by what the morning actually produces.

The day splits cleanly into two halves. The morning starts at the Tangier marina with a genuine fishing session  three hours along the coastline, guided by a skipper and crew, with participation in the fishing itself treated as optional rather than mandatory (some guests fish, others are content to watch and enjoy the boat). Whatever comes back becomes the raw material for the afternoon. From there, guests move to Mnar Castle for the land-based half: a walk through the private garden to harvest vegetables and herbs, followed by a hands-on cooking session where the chef builds the day’s actual menu around the real catch and the real harvest, rather than a fixed recipe decided in advance.

That variability is the point, not a limitation. The exact dishes change with the season and the day’s luck at sea, which means no two Fish Pick & Cook days look quite the same  something a fixed-menu cooking class can’t offer. The day closes the way it’s been building toward: the meal itself, eaten together overlooking the Mediterranean, followed by a return transfer back to Tangier.

Because it runs eight hours and combines two genuinely different activities into one day, this is kept deliberately small  a maximum of four guests  to keep the pace personal rather than logistically complicated. It suits travelers who want to spend a full, unhurried day on one immersive experience rather than several shorter activities, and it requires more advance planning than most: at least three days’ notice, given the coordination between the boat, the garden, and the kitchen.

For anyone deciding between this and the standalone Fishing Half-Day Boat Trip: choose this one if the cooking and the meal matter as much as the fishing itself; choose the standalone trip if fishing is genuinely the whole goal and four extra hours of garden and kitchen time isn’t what you’re looking for.

FAQs

FAQs - Fish Pick & Cook

Fishing participation is optional the cooking half of the day is the hands-on core of the experience, but you're not required to actively fish if you'd rather observe during the morning session.

It's kept intentionally small to keep the experience personal and comfortable across a genuinely long day 8 hours combining two activities (fishing and cooking) rather than a quick session.

The chef builds the day's menu around whatever the group actually catches and harvests, so the exact dishes vary but the experience and meal happen regardless of how the fishing goes.

This combines fishing with a full cooking and dining experience at Mnar Castle afterward an 8-hour full day rather than a 4-hour fishing-only trip. If you just want to fish without the cooking half, the standalone Fishing Half-Day Boat Trip is the shorter, fishing-focused option.

No you'll need to arrange your own way to the marina meeting point; the return transfer from Mnar Castle back to the city is included at the end of the day.

At least 3 days before your preferred start date.
